Is the ST2000VX017 a CMR CCTV hard drive?
Yes. Seagate lists the SkyHawk 2TB ST2000VX017 as a CMR surveillance HDD with a SATA 6 Gb/s connection and 256MB cache. Check the exact part number: other 2TB SkyHawk models can have different recording technology. This model is a 3.5 inch internal drive for a compatible recorder, not a USB drive.
Should I choose 2TB or 4TB for my CCTV recorder?
Choose around your required recording period, average camera bitrate and recording schedule. For the same streams and settings, a supported 4TB drive has twice the nominal capacity of a 2TB drive.
