Ethernet cable joiner questions
How do I join two Ethernet cables?
Plug one terminated RJ45 Ethernet lead into each socket of this female-to-female inline coupler. It joins suitable patch leads; it is not a crimp connector for joining bare conductors.
Does this coupler extend the maximum Ethernet distance?
No. A passive coupler joins cables without amplifying the signal. The combined cable length and all connections must remain within your equipment's supported limits. A direct cable run is preferable where practical.
Will a Cat5e joiner turn Cat6 cable into a Cat6 link?
No. Physical RJ45 compatibility does not upgrade the coupler's category rating. Use components rated for the performance you need across the whole connection.
What should I use for an outdoor PoE camera connection?
This white coupler is not waterproof. Select appropriate CCTV junction boxes, seal the cable entries correctly and use cable suitable for the installation environment. For a new run, compare our custom-length solid-copper Cat6 Ethernet cable.
