PoE CCTV Use
This coupler can be used in compatible PoE Ethernet links where the cables, connectors and network equipment are correctly terminated and the complete link remains within the applicable Ethernet and PoE limits. Adding any inline connection introduces another contact point, so for permanent security installations use good quality patch leads and test the completed link before relying on it.
RJ45 Extender for NVR & IP Camera Cabling
If an existing Ethernet patch lead is slightly too short to reach an NVR, PoE switch or IP camera connection, the coupler lets you join a second RJ45 cable rather than replacing the complete patch lead. For fixed in wall structured cabling, a correctly terminated permanent cable run is still preferable where practical.
Outdoor Installation Note
The coupler itself is not waterproof. If the connection is used outdoors, place it inside a suitable weatherproof junction box or other properly sealed enclosure. Do not leave an exposed RJ45 joint where moisture can enter.

Can an Ethernet coupler work with PoE cameras?
It can be used in a compatible PoE link, but the full cable run, terminations, coupler and PoE equipment must all be suitable for the required data rate and power level.
Does an RJ45 coupler extend the Ethernet distance limit?
No. A passive female to female coupler joins two cables; it does not regenerate the network signal or increase the permitted Ethernet channel length.
Can I use this outside for CCTV?
Only inside a suitable sealed enclosure because the coupler itself is not waterproof.
